On-Demand Webinar! Finding Fraud in a Haystack of Data: How One Department of Transportation Stays Vigilant Against Fraud Risks

Like any large government department, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is faced with unprecedented fraud risk. Fraud in government departments is particularly detrimental because it causes the loss of public money or property, hurts employee morale and undermines the public's confidence in government services.

Responsible for overseeing the Registry of Motor Vehicles, all Massachusetts’ highways and bridges, the state commuter rail and subway systems, 36 airports throughout the state, contract compliance, ageing infrastructure, road tolls, and the massive amounts of daily transaction data accumulating every day, the audit team at MassDOT must remain vigilant in assessing risk and cracking down on fraud.

In this 60 minute webinar, Jim Logan, Director of Audit Operations at MassDOT, shares how his team navigates the complexity of fraud across the department and how they use ACL technology to break down mass amounts of data, organize it and ease reporting.

Other topics we will cover include:

  • How fraud has evolved in the department over the years
  • How to look for red flags and patterns of behavior that indicate fraud in massive amounts of data
  • How get started with your fraud program
  • Jim’s vision for the audit team at MassDOT (and how he plans to get there!)
